History

In History, pupils learn about significant people, events and places from both the recent and more distant past. They learn about change and continuity in Britain and in other parts of the world.

They look at history in a variety of ways, for example from political, economic, technological and scientific, social, religious, cultural or aesthetic perspectives. They use different sources of information to help them investigate the past.

Music

Children have the opportunity to perform, listen to and evaluate music from across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions. They learn about the dimensions, production and communication of music in terms of pitch, rhythm, duration dynamics and tempo and learn to read traditional pitched notation. All children will learn to use their singing voice, with control and expression and have the opportunity to sign in ensembles and choirs.

Art

At Linchfield we want children to develop and explore their creativity and imagination through Art and DT. Throughout their time at school, they are exposed to various visual and tactile elements, materials and process, and are encouraged to communicate what they see, feel and think. We believe that it is important that the children’s voice is encouraged so they can say with confidence how they feel about different pieces of Art and design; artist’s and sculptor’s work.

The Spanish Flag

Spanish

All Linchfield pupils learn Spanish in Key Stage 2. This enables our pupils to develop communication and literacy skills that lay the foundation for future language learning. As well as developing their linguistic competence, learning another language raises awareness of the multilingual and multicultural world we live in, and encourages tolerance and understanding of others. Teachers use the Language Angels Scheme of work to support their teaching of Spanish.

Geography

In Geography, pupils investigate a variety of people, places and environments during their time at Linchfield Community Primary School. Children find out how people affect the environment and how they are affected by it. They carry out geographical enquiry inside and outside the classroom. They use geographical skills and resources such as maps; atlases; aerial photographs and ICT to ask and answer geographical questions.
