KS1 Pupils Enjoy Special Visit from Farmer Simon
Key Stage 1 pupils were delighted to welcome Farmer Simon to school for an exciting hands-on learning experience all about farming and food production.
The children were thrilled to see Farmer Simon arrive with his tractor, as well as samples of sugar beet, barley and corn. During the visit, he shared fascinating facts about life on the farm, explaining how crops are grown, cared for and harvested before making their way to our plates.
Pupils were particularly surprised to discover that many of the foods they had eaten for breakfast had originated from farms, helping them to make real-life connections between agriculture and their everyday lives.
Farmer Simon also spoke about the important role that weather plays in farming and explained some of the challenges farmers face throughout the year. The children learned about the hard work and dedication required to ensure there is enough food for everyone.
Back in the classroom, the visit provided a valuable link to the children’s Religious Education learning. Pupils explored the Creation Story and discussed how Christians believe that God created the Earth to provide the food and resources needed to sustain life.
The visit was an engaging and memorable experience that helped bring classroom learning to life, while giving children a greater appreciation of the work farmers do to support communities every day. A huge thank you to Farmer Simon for taking the time to visit and inspire our young learners.
