A PGL Adventure to Remember
The Year 6 pupils from Linchfield Academy could hardly contain their excitement as they arrived at PGL for their residential adventure. Bags were unpacked, beds were claimed, and new challenges awaited around every corner.
On the first morning, the towering climbing wall stood proudly in front of them. Some pupils felt nervous as they clipped on their harnesses, but with encouragement from their friends and instructors, they climbed higher than they ever thought possible. Every step upwards built confidence, determination and a sense of achievement.
Next came archery. With bows in hand and targets in sight, the children learned the importance of focus, patience and perseverance. Cheers erupted whenever an arrow landed close to the bullseye, and everyone celebrated each other’s successes.
The rope-based challenges tested teamwork more than anything else. Balancing on high ropes and tackling tricky obstacles required courage and trust. Pupils helped one another, offered words of support, and discovered that working together often made difficult tasks much easier.
As the days passed, friendships grew stronger and laughter filled every activity. Around mealtimes and during evening downtime, pupils shared stories from the day’s adventures and created memories they would never forget. On Friday, the children took part in raft building, putting their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test. Many pupils also spoke enthusiastically about the giant swing as one of the highlights of the trip, while toasting marshmallows around the campfire provided the perfect end to three action-packed and memorable days.
By the time it was time to head home, every child had achieved something they were proud of. The PGL residential wasn’t just about climbing walls, hitting targets or conquering rope courses – it was about building confidence, resilience, independence and teamwork. Year 6 returned to Linchfield Academy with bigger smiles, stronger friendships and a renewed belief that they could achieve great things when they stepped outside their comfort zones.
It was an adventure full of fun, challenge and unforgettable memories – one that the Year 6 pupils will be talking about for years to come.
